Why Suidade?
Suidade was created to bring the values of the past into today’s market. In an increasingly globalized world, the richness of handmade work, done with love, the close relationship with small rural businesses, and the value of local materials are often forgotten. «Suidades» is how we express a deep longing for something or someone in my homeland — a name I chose to convey the homesickness for those values that seem to be fading.
At Suidade, we’re dedicated to reviving that tradition, offering accessories that not only have a story, but also keep the essence of authenticity and locality alive. We want each piece to be a reminder of what truly matters: love for craftmanship, respect for our planet, and local connectedness.
Values
— Rural
We believe that authenticity and beauty lie in the small details of rural life, and we work to reflect this essence in each of our products. Our commitment is to keep alive the spirit of rural communities, where connection to nature and traditions are fundamental.
— Local Economy
We support the local economy by working closely with small businesses and local artisans. Each Suidade bag is the result of joint efforts aimed at strengthening local networks, creating a positive and sustainable impact in our community.

— Tradition
Tradition is the soul of Suidade. We revive traditional ways of working, not only through craftsmanship but also by keeping it familiar and close. But that’s not all — Galician traditional music and culture are our main inspiration. Each bag tells a story, keeping our cultural roots alive and passing them down from generation to generation.
— Craftsmanship
Each of our products is handmade with dedication and care. We value the time and talent needed to create something unique — at Suidade, no two pieces are the same. Craftsmanship is the heart of our brand, and every detail reflects our commitment to quality and authenticity.
— Sustainability
We believe in a future where fashion can be sustainable. Our production is designed to minimize environmental impact, promoting conscious and responsible consumption.
We produce small-scale collections of timeless accessories adaptable to many situations, using our resources to the fullest with a zero-waste goal. We even reuse waste from other companies — like the fabric bags we use for packaging, sewn by us using surplus textiles from other brands.
Along with the environment, we care about people — our suppliers are companies we know personally, where workers’ rights are respected.
Materials

— Vegetable-Tanned Leather
The leather we use at Suidade is vegetable-tanned, an ancient process that uses natural tannins extracted from trees and plants. This method is more environmentally friendly than chemical tanning and allows us to obtain high-quality leather with a natural feel. Over time, vegetable-tanned leather develops a patina that adds even more character and beauty.
The hides we use are a byproduct of the food industry, allowing us to give them new life and prevent waste — contributing to the circular economy. By working with locally sourced hides, we reduce our carbon footprint and support the local economy, helping to keep the tradition of vegetable tanning alive in our region.
— Wood from Galicia
For the base of our bags, we use chestnut, pine, and oak wood from Galicia. We treat our wood exclusively with water-based varnishes, avoiding harmful chemicals that could damage the environment or affect our customers’ health. The proximity of our suppliers also plays a crucial role in our sustainability mission. By choosing local wood, we reduce transport-related emissions and support the local economy, promoting a more responsible use of natural resources.
Local suppliers
At Suidade, we know that each bag has a story to tell — and that story begins with our local suppliers, who walk with us with passion, tradition, and a great love for their craft.
We choose to work with them not only because they master their craft, but because we share the same values. They are small family businesses that treat every customer like part of the family, putting love and dedication into every creation.
— Soneira Carpenters
We use chestnut, pine, and oak wood carefully selected by carpenters from the Soneira region, our homeland in Galicia. These artisans, who inherit their trade from parents and grandparents, work each piece by hand, selecting the finest wood to ensure that every bag base is unique and special.

— Bergantiños Tanneries
The leather we use comes from tanneries in the Bergantiños region, right next to our homeland, Soneira. In this area of Galicia, known for its strong tradition in vegetable tanning, our suppliers have spent years perfecting their craft.
They use natural tannins in the tanning process, which not only respect the environment but also give the leather a natural feel and allow it to gain character over time.
